Guwahati: There was devastation all across the coastal regions with loss of power supply reported in low-lying areas of Bangladesh.

The death count from cyclone Remal which crashed into low-lying areas of Bangladesh has risen to at least 10 people.

Remal has also destroyed 30,000 homes and more damages are yet to be captured.

Cyclone Remal made landfall on Sunday night and it witnessed fierce gales and crashing waves.

By Monday afternoon, it had weakened into a storm, but winds and rain still lashed the coast.

According to a person from the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board, power was knocked out to more than 12.5 million people.

Power supply will resume as the situation improves in the region.

According to reports, in West Bengal, four people died due to electrocution, taking the death toll in the state to six.
