China’s Hubei province government said a ban will be imposed on vehicle traffic across the province to stop the spread of the deadly coronavirus.

The reports quoted the government as stating that police cars, ambulances, vehicles carrying essential goods, or other vehicles related to public service would be exempted from the purview of the ban.

The government of Hubei province, which is the epicenter of the virus, also clarified that the companies first need to receive permission to resume their operations.

A number of companies in Hubei province have stopped their operations following the massive outbreak of coronavirus.

Moreover, the government of Hubei province also said regular health checkups will be carried out in all the inhabitants in the province.

Meanwhile, the death toll due to coronavirus reached 1,665 and the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus jumped to 68,500 in China on Sunday.

The first case of coronavirus was detected in Wuhan city of Hubei province.

The National Health Commission reported 2,009 new cases on Sunday, down from 2,641 the previous day and 142 new deaths, just one lower than the 143 in the previous day.

In order to treat the huge number of patients affected by the coronavirus, the hospitals in Wuhan have combined Traditional Chinese Medicine, popularly known as TCM, and western medicines.

A health official said the combination of TCM and western medicines has shown some good results on the patients.

Meanwhile, France reported the first death from the disease in Europe.

Till date over two dozen countries have confirmed cases.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of WHO, has urged the governments across the world to step up their efforts to prepare for coronavirus.

Ghebreyesussaid: “It’s impossible to predict which direction this epidemic will take.”

The World Health Organisation chief also warned it was “impossible” to predict how the outbreak would develop.
