United States based biotechnology company Moderna has shipped its first batch of experimental coronavirus vaccines to government researchers for testing.
As per reports, the shares of the company had risen on Tuesday, a day after it sent the vaccine to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases for early-stage testing in the US.
In a statement released by Moderna on Monday, the vaccine has been named as mRNA-1273 vaccine.
“mRNA-1273 is an mRNA vaccine against the novel coronavirus encoding for a prefusion stabilized form of the Spike (S) protein, which was designed by Moderna in collaboration with NIAID. The S protein complex is necessary for membrane fusion and host cell infection and has been the target of vaccines against the coronaviruses responsible for Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS),” the company added.
Meanwhile, the death toll due to the deadly coronavirus had increased to 2715 in China on Wednesday.
Over 81000 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported from various parts of the world.
According to a new travel advisory issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Indians are advised to refrain from non-essential travel to Republic of Korea, Iran and Italy.
Moreover, people coming from Republic of Korea, Iran and Italy or having such travel history since February 10, 2020 may be quarantined for 14 days on arrival to India, the travel advisory stated.
