Bhutan king Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk and queen Jetsun Pema are expecting their second royal child next year.

While giving the traditional royal address during the 112th National Day celebrations in Bhutan on Wednesday, the King announced that Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen was expecting their second royal child.

Moreover, the announcement was also later posted on the Instagram handle of the royal family of Bhutan.

The post, which carried a picture of Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen and her son stated, “112th National Day: His Majesty The King announced that Their Majesties are expecting a second Royal Child.”

The Bhutan royal couple’s son Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck, also known as the Dragon Prince was born in February 2016.

When the second royal child is born, he/she might be second in line to the throne.

The present Bhutan King who married Queen Jetsun Pema in October 2011 ascended the royal throne in December 2006 following his father Jigme Singye Wangchuck’s abdication.

The National Day of Bhutan is celebrated annually on December 17 as a mark of celebrating the coronation of the first king of the Himalayan country.

The first king of Bhutan was coronated on December 17, 1907.

Every year, the National Day of Bhutan is celebrated with traditional functions and with great merriment.
