On the occasion of 49th Victory Day of Bangladesh on Monday, the Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) exchanged sweets with the Border Security Force (BSF).

Camp Commander Subedar Altab Hossain, on behalf of the BGB, presented 12 packets of sweets to the BSF Camp Commander Inspector Jagadish Prasad at the Hili international checkpoint on Monday morning.

Hili is a village in Hili CD Block in Balurghat subdivision of Dakshin Dinajpur district in West Bengal and is a border checkpoint on the India-Bangladesh border.

During the 1971 India-Pakistan War, around 400 soldiers of both the countries were killed in the war that continued from November 24 to December 11 on the Hili border.

Both male and female soldiers of  BGB and BSF were present during the exchange of greetings at the Hili border area.

“The exchange of greetings between BGB and BSF on various national and religious occasions is a long-time tradition at the Hili border,” said Camp Commander Subedar Altab Hossain.

“We believe that this will help in strengthening the good relations between our forces,” he added.
