The Government Railway Police (GRP) in cooperation with an NGO recently rescued a lady from Bangladesh who was sexually abused in Assam.

As per reports, the 33-year-old woman was rescued from New Bongaigaon Railway Station of Assam.

The lady who was suffering from a urinary tract infection was asked by a Facebook friend to come for her medical treatment to Guwahati.

The person who had asked the lady to come to the city has been identified as Sheikh Hridi alias Apon.

The woman who is a resident of Dhaka had come to Guwahati on June 19.

After she had arrived in the city, Apon lied to her that he would take her to Darjeeling and instead took her to Shillong.

The man sexually abused the Bangladeshi woman after reaching Shillong.

The lady was once again tortured by the wicked man after she was brought by the man to Guwahati again from Shillong.

However, two days later i.e. on June 21, the man took the lady and boarded a train after lying to her that he would be taking her for treatment to Kolkata.

However, the lady who had fallen asleep midway during the train journey later woke up and found that the man had stolen her belongings and fled away.

Her belongings included Rs 37000 cash and some expensive jewellery.

After being rescued, the lady was later taken to a rescue home of an NGO named Global Organization for Life Development.

The staff of the NGO later sent her back to her country with the help from officer in charge of assistant high commissioner of Bangladesh Tanveer Masud.

The GRP is carrying out investigation of the accused man who had been booked under sections of rape and theft.

His Facebook account describes him as a member of Bangladesh Awami Cultural League.
