Delhi: Veteran BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani was hospitalized at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on Wednesday night.

It was reported the 96-year-old leader is receiving care from the geriatric department’s doctors.

He is currently stable and under close monitoring.

This hospitalization follows three months after Advani received the Bharat Ratna, Indiaโ€™s highest civilian award.

President Droupadi Murmu presented the Bharat Ratna to Advani at his Delhi residence, in a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Advaniโ€™s family.

Advani’s illustrious political career includes serving as India’s deputy prime minister from June 2002 to May 2004 and as the Union Home Minister from October 1999 to May 2004.
