Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday announced that the government will establish fast-track courts to ensure quicker trials and strict punishment for those involved in examination paper leaks.
The announcement came amid intensifying student protests over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations. Addressing the issue for the second consecutive day, Modi said the welfare and future of the country’s youth remained the government’s top priority.
The Prime Minister said the move aims to protect students’ interests and rebuild trust in the examination system. He added that authorities have been directed to take necessary steps to ensure swift legal action against those responsible for paper leaks.
“We have decided to set up fast-track courts to ensure swift and stringent punishment for those involved in paper leaks. I have directed the concerned authorities and officials to take all necessary steps in this regard,” Modi said.
Modi said individuals and networks attempting to harm the future of young students and job aspirants would face strict action. He said paper leaks undermine the credibility of recruitment and examination processes and jeopardise the aspirations of millions of candidates.
The Prime Minister said the government is working to strengthen examination systems by introducing measures aimed at improving transparency, security and fairness. He added that faster judicial proceedings through dedicated courts would help ensure that those guilty of such offences are punished without delay.
