After taking charge as the PM, Modi signed the first file, authorising release of the 17th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN).

PM Narendra Modi said that the scheme will benefit 9.3 crore farmers and distribute approximately Rs 20,000 crore.

PM Modi said that his government is committed to farmers’ welfare, stating, “Our government is fully dedicated to Kisan Kalyan.”

“It is fitting that the first file signed upon taking office pertains to farmer welfare. We are determined to continue working for the benefit of farmers,” he said.

PM-KISAN scheme, a central sector initiative, aimed at providing financial assistance to cultivable landholding farmer families nationwide.

This support, subject to certain exclusion criteria, helps farmers manage expenses related to agriculture, allied activities, and domestic needs.

Under the PM-KISAN scheme, respective state or UT governments are responsible for identifying beneficiaries and uploading their verified data onto PM-KISAN portal.
