Doomdooma: The ย Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Wednesday detected a suspected monkey skull concealed inside the hand baggage of a passenger during pre-embarkation security screening at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi.
โAlert CISF personnel deployed at IGI Airport, New Delhi, detected a skull concealed inside the hand baggage of a passenger during the pre-embarkation security check,โ the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) said in a statement.
The passenger, who was scheduled to travel from Delhi to Hyderabad, was intercepted after security personnel detected the suspicious item during screening. During questioning, the passenger reportedly claimed that the recovered skull belonged to a monkey.
โConsidering the nature of the item and its suspected connection with wildlife, the passenger was handed over to the local police for further legal action under the provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972,โ the CISF said.
The incident demonstrates the vigilance of CISF personnel in maintaining aviation security and assisting enforcement agencies in detecting and preventing the illegal movement of wildlife and wildlife derivatives through airports.
Further legal action in the case is being taken by the local police under the applicable provisions of law.
