Kejriwal was detained by the central agency late on Thursday (March 22) over allegations of corruption linked to the defunct excise policy.
This marks the first instance in independent India of a serving chief minister being taken into custody.
Kejriwal’s decision follows his failure to appear before the investigation agency despite receiving multiple summons, totalling nine, which he deemed ‘illegal’.
