Guwahati: Commercial LPG cylinder prices have been reduced across the country for the first time this year, with oil marketing companies cutting the price of a 19-kg cylinder by Rs 183.50, effective July 1. The reduction is expected to provide relief to restaurants, hotels, caterers and other commercial establishments that depend heavily on LPG.

Following the latest revision, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi has come down to Rs 2,930, while revised rates in other major cities include Rs 3,089 in Kolkata, Rs 3,145.50 in Mumbai and Rs 3,303 in Chennai. The monthly price revision is carried out by state-run oil marketing companies based on changes in international energy markets and other pricing factors.

The price cut follows a hike in June, when commercial LPG rates were increased amid supply concerns linked to tensions in West Asia. With global crude oil prices easing after geopolitical conditions improved, oil companies have rolled back commercial LPG prices.

However, there has been no change in the price of the 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder, meaning household consumers will continue to pay the existing rates for cooking gas.

The reduction is expected to lower operating costs for businesses in the hospitality and food service sectors, although domestic consumers will not receive any immediate relief from cooking gas prices this month.
