Guwahati: Members of the All India Studentsโ€™ Association (AISA) on Sunday claimed that Delhi Police picked up the organisationโ€™s national president Neha Bora in a private vehicle without an official number plate during a protest march against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar near Jantar Mantar.

AISA members alleged that Bora was taken to an unknown location and that no woman police officer was present inside the vehicle. They described the alleged action as a violation of established procedure.

There was no immediate reaction from the Delhi Police to the allegations, reported agencies.

The incident occurred as AISA activists attempted to reach Jantar Mantar for the third consecutive day to demand Kumarโ€™s resignation. The protesters moved towards the designated protest site despite heavy barricading and a security deployment in the area.

The mobilisation began at Andhra Bhawan Circle on Ashoka Road, with protesters marching towards Jantar Mantar and raising slogans.

A brief clash broke out between protesters and security personnel as police attempted to stop them from crossing the barricades. Visuals from the march showed Bora trying to climb over a barricade as police officials attempted to stop her.

The latest mobilisation followed two days of detentions during protests in central Delhi. More than 150 protesters were detained on Saturday, while over 500 protesters, including student activists and political leaders, were detained during demonstrations on Friday.

Bora, AAP leaders, AJP leader Kunki Chowdhury and activist Yogendra Yadav were among those detained on Saturday.

Police had denied permission for Saturdayโ€™s gathering and deployed additional personnel in central Delhi. Several roads leading to Jantar Mantar were barricaded, while access to some metro stations in the area was temporarily restricted during the earlier protests.
