The Dhemaji district gears up to host the 34th biennial conference of the Deori Sahitya Sabha at Bamchenia in Gogamukh area from Monday.
The four-day conference of Deori Sahitya Sahitya Sabha, the apex literary body of the Deori community, will continue up to January 30.
All preparations for the biennial conference of the Deori Sahitya Sabha have been completed, the organizers have informed.
The organisers have informed that a large number of delegates from different parts of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Meghalaya will participate in the conference.
The organizers said they are expecting a gathering of more than 10,000 people from various places of Assam including Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Sonitpur, Biswanath, Jorhat, Lakhimpur, Guwahati, Majuli and the host district.
The local people are eagerly waiting for hosting the guests.
Arrangements have also been made for book fair, exhibition, food mela and deo saal (place of worship) for conducting rituals.
On January 27, the main gate of the conference will be inaugurated by Dharmendra Deori, executive member of Deori Autonomous Council.
The organizers have also invited Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Guwahati development minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya, plains tribes and other backward classes minister Chandan Brahma and sports and youth affairs minister Naba Kumar Doley to attend the concluding day event of the conference.
The other ministers who have also been invited to attend the conference, are social welfare minister Pramila Rani Brahma, public health engineering minister Rihan Daimary and agriculture minister Atul Bora.
Lakhimpur Lok Sabha MP Pradan Baruah, Deori Autonomous Council (DAC) chief executive member (CEM) Madhab Deori and Jummum Ete Deori, BJP’s Namsai MLA have also been invited to attend the concluding function of the conference.
Noted artistes of the Deori community including Chakrapati Deori, Barnali During, Jyoti Prasada Deori, Anuj Airya Deori, and others will perform at the cultural nights of the conference.
