  • Kartik Amavasya Begins: October 31, 2024, at 3:52 PM
  • Kartik Amavasya Ends: November 1, 2024, at 6:18 PM
  • Kali Puja Nishita Kaal Timing: 11:39 PM to 12:31 AM
  • Duration: 52 minutes

Significance of Kali Puja

Among the ten Mahavidyas which are the supreme manifestations of the Divine Mother or Adishakti, Kali is considered to be the most powerful.

She is worshipped on the night of Diwali as it is believed that negative emotions and evil spirits are dispelled with Her blessings.

It is also believed that worshipping Maa Kali helps in rapid fulfillment of wishes and desires

Maa Kali is also believed to be rectify any shortcomings in planetary movements in horoscopes so astrologers also recommend performing Kali Puja with devotion.

Legends of Kali Puja

According to Hindu legends, it is believed that Goddess Parvati took the form of Maa Kali to defeat the terrifying demon Raktabija.

As Raktabija could multiply himself with each drop of blood that fell on the ground, Kali consumed every drop of His blood and ultimate annihilated him.

Kali Puja is believed to have gained prominence after the popular 19th century saint Ramkrishna Paramhansa made it popular.
