Tripura registered the first COVID-19 positive case on Monday.

Confirming this news, Tripura chief minister Biplab Kr Deb said the patient is from Udaipur.

However, requesting the people of the state not to panic, he said his government is taking proper care of the patient.

Chief minister Deb tweeted at 9:45 pm: “First #COVID19 positive case detected at Tripura. The patient is from Udaipur.”

“Don’t Panic, we are taking proper care of the patient. Stay Home Stay Safe,” he added.

Sources said, “The 45-year-old woman, who is infected with the deadly virus, is from Udaipur under Gomoti district.”

Sources added, “The patient, who has been suffering from fever since the last six days, has been admitted to Gomoti district hospital.”

On Sunday, the patient complained of breathing problem and was shifted to the ILS Hospital, a private hospital in Agartala.

From there she was shifted to the Agartala Medical College Hospital where she tested positive on Monday.

The report came out in the evening on Monday with positive results for COVID19.

“As soon as the lady tested positive for the virus, the doctors have started her treatment,” sources said.

The authorities have also started the process to quarantine all the members of her family and all other people who came in contact with her recently.
