Tripura registers 2 more COVID19 positive cases, state count rises to 153

Tripura on Monday registered two more COVID19 positive cases taking the state’s total to 153.

Confirming this news, Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Monday said the two infected patients are Border Security (BSF) officials posted in Dhalai district.

The chief minister informed that samples of 750 civilians and BSF personnel were sent for COVID19 test and out of those, two BSF officials tested positive.

However, the chief minister has not mentioned about the battalion to which they belong.

Sharing the information, chief minister deb tweeted:  “In a massive #COVID19 test among 750 civilian and BSF in Dhalai Dist today, 2 BSF officials were found COVID-19 POSITIVE.

“All patients are responding well to the treatment,” chief minister Deb said.

“With the blessings of Mata Tripurasundari soon our State will be Corona free,” Deb added.

With the two new cases, the number of active cases in Tripura has risen to 150.

On Sunday, Tripura registered 16 COVID19 positive cases taking the state total to 151.

Chief minister Deb informed that all the 16 infected patients were from the 86th Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF).

The 86th Battalion of BSF is located in the Ambassa area of Tripura’s Dhalai district.

The infected patients included one BSF official, 6 females, and 9 children.

Tripura is on the top of the list of COVID19 positive cases registered in the Northeast with 153 cases.

Assam is in the second spot with 64 COVID19 positive cases in the region.
