In pursuit of this goal, Tripura Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor Dipak Majumder, and AMC Commissioner Dr. Shailes Yadav inspected an old AMC building in Agartala to evaluate its potential as a hospital site.

Health Secretary Gitte said, “For the residents of Agartala, we are planning to enhance healthcare services. GB Pant Hospital and Agartala Government Medical College see over 2,000 patients daily, and IGM Hospital has more than 1,200, which puts significant pressure on the medical staff. Together with the Agartala Municipal Corporation, we are planning to establish Agartala Civil Hospital. We have inspected an old building in Agartala for this purpose. Our aim is to reserve GB Pant and IGM for super-speciality services and create a separate hospital for primary and secondary healthcare,” Gitte explained.

He further mentioned that the AMC will convene a meeting to formalize the proposal, which will then be reviewed by the Health Department.

“The Chief Minister, who also serves as the Health Minister, is actively visiting hospitals and has instructed us to enhance healthcare services. We discussed this with him, and the new facility will provide primary and secondary healthcare services, including OPD and IPD. Super-specialty services will continue to be offered at GB Pant and IGM,” he added.
