COVID-19 cases are on the rise in West Tripura district.

As such, the administration on Friday declared two more containment zones.

One is Fultali and another is Hezamara of Mohanpur sub-division.

Fultali is in Amtali Police station area, where the woman was buried who had committed suicide on Tuesday at GBP hospital lavatory and later found that she was COVID-19 positive.

The district magistrate declared that area as a containment zone.

As per the latest protocols, the areas have been sealed off and the one kilometer area of its peripheries has been declared as buffer zones.

As per the protocols strict restrictions have been put on place in order to prevent further spread.

Meanwhile, the West Tripura district magistrate said the government will take strict action against those patients who were involved in the ransacking of Bhagat Singh Yuba Awas COVID Care Centre on Wednesday night.

Notably, some patients were furious on Wednesday night at the COVID care centre in Agartala and attacked the medical staff and ransacked the centre.

They were protesting against the bad quality of food.

The State Government has started another COVID care center at Hapania International Fair Ground with 400 beds.

Patients are being shifting there on Friday.

Now, the government is focusing on maximum COVID tests to prevent community transmission.

Till the date, 43920 swabs have been collected and 31,139 samples have already been tested.

Of the total tested samples, 647 positive cases were found while 173 persons have already got cured in course of treatment.

The state Health department is saying that they are conducting highest number of test per million population.

According to latest updates, a total of 13,338 persons were in quarantine – 12,657 persons under home surveillance and 681 persons in facility quarantine centres – as on Thursday.

As many as 22,506 persons had already completed the 14-day observation period.

In the meantime, 173 patients had already recovered and the other patients were under proper medical care, according to official sources.
