The ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) party has started a sensitization and public awareness campaign, ‘Sikkim’s Campaign Against COVID-19’ on Thursday to prevent the outbreak in the State.

The campaign joined by leaders and workers of SKM party was launched here at SNT complex, where they sprayed sanitizer in the complex and people’s hands and gave message on how to avoid infection and spreading the virus.

From SNT complex, volunteers in the campaign covered Ranka Stand, MG Marg, West and South Taxi Stand and Main Line Taxi Stand in Deorali.

It is informed that the party would also cover other areas to sensitize the people.

Speaking to media persons at SNT complex, political secretary to the chief minister, Jacob Khaling expressed that the public awareness and public participation was most important to prevent any outbreak of novel coronavirus in the State.

He stated that the State Government has been working vigilantly and has taken all possible strict steps to prevent it so the participation was most important in such situation.

He mentioned about various steps and initiatives taken by the State Government in the State.

Khaling mentioned that members of different fronts of SKM party have come to spread mass awareness on use of sanitizers, proper handwash, avoid crowd and other message among the people.

“We have come in small numbers by seeing the situation to spread mass awareness and we would carry out such sensitize and awareness campaign in different public places in the State,” he said.

He urged the people not to panic as the government has been working actively and vigilantly and urged the people to support the government in such situation.
