A patient, who was referred from a private hospital at Dimapur, was found positive for COVID19 in Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) on Sunday.
This is Nagaland’s first COVID19 positive case.
The COVID19 positive patient has been undergoing treatment at GMCH.
This has been confirmed by Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in the latest update on COVID19 on his Twitter handle.
Health minister Sarma said the private hospital in Dimapur referred the case to GMCH when the patient showed symptoms of COVID19.
Informing about the new case registered in the Northeast, Sarma tweeted at 10.52 pm on Sunday: “A private hospital in Dimapur, Nagaland referred a patient to GMCH after he was found with symptoms of #COVID19. He has tested positive and is undergoing treatment.”

Till 5 pm on Sunday, 74 samples of suspected cases were sent for tests from Nagaland and the results of 70 samples received were found negative.
But this positive patient, who was undergoing treatment at Dimapur and came into contact with other people, will definitely become a matter of concern for the Nagaland authorities.
The details of the patient and the people with whom he came into contact in the recent times are awaited.
According to official sources, in Nagaland, 407 people are presently under home quarantine while 28 are at facility quarantine.
Currently 5,459 are out of home quarantine.
