President Ram Nath Kovind is being administered COVID19 vaccine.

President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday took the first dose of COVID19 vaccine.

The President was accompanied by his daughter when he was administered the vaccine.

President Kovind was administered the COVID19 vaccine at the Army R&R Hospital, New Delhi.

While sharing pictures of the President taken during the time of vaccination, the Rashtrapati Bhavan on its Twitter handle said: “Ram Nath Kovind, accompanied by his daughter, was administered the COVID-19 vaccine at the Army R&R Hospital, Delhi, today.”

The President expressed his thanks to all doctors, nurses, health workers and administrators, who have been involved in the entire vaccination drive in the country.

“President thanked all doctors, nurses, health workers and administrators who are successfully implementing the largest vaccination drive in history and urged all eligible citizens to get vaccinated,” the Rashtrapati Bhavan tweeted.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the first shot of COVID19 vaccine on March 1.

Prime Minister Modi, wearing Assamese gamosa on his neck, took the vaccine at AIIMS, New Delhi.

The cumulative number of COVID19 vaccine doses administered in the country has crossed 1.63 crore on Wednesday, said Union health ministry in a statement.

The countrywide vaccination drive was rolled out on January 16, 2021 and vaccination of the Frontline Workers (FLWs) started from February 2, 2021.

The second phase of COVID19 vaccination has commenced from March 1, 2021 for those, who are over 60 years of age and for people aged 45 and above with specified co-morbid conditions.

A total of 1,63,14,485 vaccine doses have been given, as per the provisional report till 7 pm on Wednesday, the ministry said.
