Oil India Limited (OIL) on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dibrugarh district administration for construction of 1,500 individual household toilets for construction of 1500 individual household toilets in Dibrugarh under Public Health Engineering, Dibrugarh in presence of Deputy Commissioner Laya Madduri.

Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Laya Madduri informed that they have signed the MoU with OIL for construction of 1,500 individual household toilets in Dibrugarh under Swachh Bharat Mission to make Dibrugarh Open Defecation Free(ODF) district.

“We appeal to the public and the social organizations to come forward and help us in our mission to make Dibrugarh open defecation free. In Jorhat, the individuals donated Rs 30 lakh and extended their helping hand towards Swachh Bharat Mission,” the Deputy Commissioner said.

With the primary objective of the Central Government to make rural India open defection free, the District Water and Sanitation Committee ( DWSC) was constituted by the Government of Assam to implement Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) in all gaon panchyats across the Dibrugarh district with an aim to make Dibrugarh district open defection free.

“Oil India Limited has given Rs 1.80 crore for construction of 1,500 household toilets in Dibrugarh. We appeal the civil social society to come forward to make the mission successful because in many rural areas the people cannot build toilets on their own,” Madduri added.
