India on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bangladesh to deliver Covid-19 vaccine to the neighbouring country.
The MoU was signed between India’s Serum Institute of India (SII) and Bangladesh’s Beximco Pharma Limited for priority delivery of 30 million doses of Oxford/Astrazeneca vaccine for Covid-19 (Sars-CoV-2).
Once available, 15 million people in Bangladesh will get the vaccine as a person needs two doses of this vaccine.
The process to send the Oxford/Astrazeneca vaccine will start in January.
Significantly, Serum Institute would provide the vaccine at the same price they would procure.
The SII is currently doing phase III human clinical trials of the Oxford vaccine and it is tagged as the frontrunner of all other vaccine candidates.
India is also expecting high from this vaccine candidate.
Bangladesh registered 17 deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours taking the total number of deaths upto 6,021.
The country has registered 416,006 Covid-19 cases till date.
