Assam Health and Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday gave away the Kayakalp Award to 47 hospitals under 27 districts of the State.
The Kayakalp Award has been instituted by National Health Mission (NHM), and is awarded based on the overall quality of the hospitals and on its practices on cleanliness.

From Kamrup (Metro) district five hospitals were given the Kayakalp Award.
While the Sonapur District Hospital, Pandu First Referral Unit (FRU) and Nortap MPHC bagged the Commendation Award, Birkuchi Urban PHC and Fatasil Urban PHC received the first and second position at the district Level.
At the awards giving ceremony, Kamrup Metro District Programme Management of NHM, was rewarded as the Best District Programme Management Unit in the State.

The Joint Director of Health Services, ADC (Health), DPM, DME along with all DPMU members received the award from the Minister of Health and Family Welfare.
