Manipur’s General Administration Department (GAD) on Tuesday provided 10,000 hand sanitizers and 10,000 facemasks to the Manipur Police Department.
These were handed over at a simple function held at the chief minister’s bunglow in Imphal, official sources said.

The department also provided 1000 hand sanitizers and 1000 face masks to the Transport Department.
The hand sanitizers and facemasks were arranged by the GAD, Government of Manipur from the funds of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) sponsored by the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
The state police chief L M Khaute and transport director Mercina R Panmei received these items from the state chief minister N Biren Singh on behalf of the Manipur Police Department and the Transport Department respectively, a press release from the chief minister’s secretariat said.

The state chief secretary Dr J Suresh Babu, DGP L M Khaute, additional chief secretary (Relief and Disaster) M H Khan, principal secretary (GAD) P Vaiphei, inspector general of police E Priyokumar and other high ranking officials from the AAI and the State Government were also present during the event.
N Biren also handed over Rs 35 lakhs to the Police Department and Rs 10 lakhs to the Transport Department from the State Disaster Response Fund to procure hand sanitizers and other personal protective items for use by those working in the frontline in tackling COVID-19.
Notably, half the number of these masks which was distributed, were made by local private enterprises while another half was surgical masks.
