Governor RN Ravi reviews COVID-19 situation in Nagaland

Nagaland governor RN Ravi on Tuesday reviewed the COVID-19 situation in the state and assessed the preparedness of the state to tackle the spread of the deadly virus.

The weekly review meeting was held at the Raj Bhavan in Kohima.

The review meeting was attended by the Nagaland chief secretary, principal secretary to home, commissioner and secretary to health & family welfare and the director general of police (DGP).

In view of a COVID-19 positive case detected in Dimapur, the review meeting identified the gaps and weaknesses in the existing preventive protocols and procedures to fight the virus.

The meeting also stressed the need to take appropriate measures to further strengthen the existing mechanism.

For an effective holistic response to this unprecedented global crisis, the Nagaland governor suggested setting up of a multi-department ‘COVID-19 War Room’ under the chief secretary immediately.

During the meeting, governor Ravi while expressing that the lockdown would create a lot of humanitarian issues, however, reassured that the government remains committed to mitigating the hardships of the people and taking all possible measures in this regard.

The governor also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the right decision to extend the nationwide lockdown till May 3.
