The total number of Assam Police personnel, infected by COVID19, has increased to 308 on Tuesday.

This was confirmed by the additional director general of police (law & order), Assam, GP Singh in a tweet on Tuesday.

The top Assam Police official informed that out of the total COVID19 cases in Assam Police, 68 have recovered.

“308 personnel tested positive for Covid till date, out of whom 68 have recovered,” ADGP (L&O) Singh tweeted.

The top cop said 80 per cent of the Assam Police personnel infected by COVID19 are from Guwahati.

Till Sunday, a total of 932 Assam Police personnel were in quarantine and the number of COVID19 positive police personnel admitted to the Covid Care Centre (CCC) was 171 including 145 from various districts and 787 from the battalions.

In a tweet on Monday, Singh said: “Till 6th July, 256 Assam police personnel have tested Covid positive out of whom 50 have recovered, 932 are under quarantine.”

Meanwhile, Assam has registered a total of 12,522 COVID19 positive cases so far including 4,623 active cases.

A total of 7,882 COVID19 patients have been discharged from various civil, district and model hospitals across Assam till date.

The deadly disease has claimed the lives of 14 persons so far in Assam while 3 cases have migrated from the state.

On Monday, Assam recorded a total 786 new positive cases, out of which 598 cases were from Guwahati alone.
