With 139 new COVID19 positive cases including 18 central armed police force (CAPF) personnel, Manipur on Sunday crossed the 7,000-mark, taking the state’s total tally to 7,022.
The COVID19 Common Control Room, Imphal on Sunday said 121 persons from the general population and 18 from the CAPF were confirmed as COVID19 positive cases in the past 24 hours.
“They are from Imphal West(74), Imphal East(21), Senapati (1), Ukhrul (2), Tamenglong (1), Thoubal (18), Churachandpur (2) and Bishnupur (2),” COVID19 Common Control Room, Imphal said in a press release.
“All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to COVID care facilities,” the release said.
In the last 24 hours, one male, aged 53 years from Thoubal district and one female, aged 31 years from Imphal West district, expired at JNIMS and RIMS respectively died of COVID19 and other co-morbid conditions, the release said.
The cumulative number of COVID19 deaths in Manipur has risen to 38 on Sunday.
The state reported its first death due to COVID19 on July 29.
In the past 24 hours, 189 persons were discharged after recovery from seven COVID care facilities.
The cumulative number of discharged cases now stands at 5,164.
The number of active cases is 1,820 while the recovery rate is 73.54%, the release added.
As of Sunday, a total of 3,52,635 persons were screened at various entry points of the state, while 1,72,650 individuals were tested for COVID19 at various testing centres in the state, official sources said.
Meanwhile, an awareness campaign on COVID 19 in and around Imphal is underway to create awareness among the people about preventive measures, home isolation, different helpline numbers and also about the use of masks and other health hygiene to prevent from the spread of the disease.
The awareness events were jointly organised by the health department, Indian Red Cross Society Manipur Branch, Indian Medical Association Manipur state branch and local clubs.
