In addition, AN-32 aircraft, on April 6, 2020, airlifted personnel and 3,500 kg of medical equipment of ICMR from Chennai to Bhubaneshwar for setting up of testing labs and facilities in Odisha.

The IAF has earmarked aircraft at nodal points to airlift medical supplies and equipment at short notice to proactively support operations against COVID-19, it added.

Each time a need arises for India, our men and women in the defence forces have stood tall to the occasion.

The IAF on Monday tweeted: “#HarKaamDeshKeNaam – The helicopters along with transport aircraft are undertaking missions towards the ongoing #Covid19 support operations. The medical supplies were airlifted by Mi17V5 from Baghdogra to Gangtok.”
