Following a directive from the Assam government to keep all schools in the state closed till March 29, the silver jubilee programme of a school has also been cancelled.
According to sources, the school management of Sankardev Sishu Niketan School of Pathsala town in Barpeta district has decided to stop its scheduled silver jubilee programme.

Amidst the surging coronavirus cases in India and a directive from Assam government, all schools, colleges, universities, gyms, swimming pools, and cinema halls will remain closed in the state till March 29.
The silver jubilee celebration of the Sankardev Sishu Niketan School of Pathsala had to be stopped mid-way by the school management.
There will be no cultural function to be organised on the occasion.
The Sankardev Sishu Niketan of Pathsala in Barpeta district was established in 1995.
The school started celebrating its concluding function of the year-long silver jubilee with a three-day colourful programme from March 13 at the school premises.
As celebration entered its 3rd day, the school authority had to stop all the cultural programmes.
“All educational institutions, both government and private, cinema halls, swimming pools, and gyms have been closed in Assam till March 29 as a precautionary measure to check community transmission of novel coronavirus (COVID-19),” said chief secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna on Sunday.
Addressing a press conference in Guwahati, the chief secretary said: “All examinations have been postponed except the board examinations of CBSE and SEBA.”
However, no confirmed case of COVID-19 has been found so far in Assam.
