New Delhi based organisation Bordoisila Foundation organised a cancer detection and awareness camp on Thursday by at Paltan Bazar in Dibrugarh. Altogether 51 women participated in the camp and 25 of them were patients.

The camp was organised at the initiative of four doctors–Dr Biswajyoti Hazarika, Director Surgical Oncology of Artemis Hospital,  Dr J Ahmed of AMCH and Dr Ziaul Islam of AMCH and C Barua.

Dr Ziaul Islam, executive member of Bordoisila Foundation said, “We have organised the camp to diagnose early stages of cancer. Today we have organised the camp to detect breast cancer and cervical cancer. We have detected three positive cases at the camp.”

“We have so far organised 25 to 30 camps in Assam since our inception and detected positives cases from the camps. In Nazira we have held a camp in recent past were many cases were detected. Our main objective is to detect the disease at an early stage and guide the patients for further treatment,” Islam said. He said they have a mobile cancer detection van where they undergo medical tests.
