A six-year-old child from Bangladesh was successfully operated upon in North Eastern Indira Gandhi regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) in Meghalaya.
A team of doctors headed by Dr BhaskarBorgohain, HoD Orthopaedics operated upon the minor child from Bangladesh last month.

The child was suffering from a very rare skeletal dysplasia called Trevor’s Disease (Dysplasia Epiphysealis Hemimelica).
While giving a brief to the director of NEIGRIHMS, Prof (Dr) BhaskarBorgohain said the child had a tumour like Exophytic mass lying critically close to the popliteal vessel and nerves, which was mechanically restricting his knee movement.
The tumour like mass was successfully excised through the cleavage line delineated by MRI before surgery.

The child who had come to NEIGRIHMS on medical visa has uneventful recovery.
