Madhuriya Bhuyan, a 36-year-old senior audit officer, who died on Sunday last in Mizoram capital Aizawl was tested negative for coronavirus, an official said on Thursday.

Mizoram nodal officer of integrated disease surveilance programme Dr Pachuau Lalmalsawma said the sample was sent to Silchar Medical College on Monday.

“The sample result was declared on Thurday and was tested negative,” he said.

Bhuyan was found dead inside his rented house at Aizawl’s Mission veng locality on Sunday evening.

He was employed as senior audit officer in Account General (AG) Office under the Central government in Aizawl.

He was living alone in his apartment after he had dropped his wife and children to his home town in mid-February.

According to his fellow employees, the man had suffered from fever a day before his body was found.

They suspect cardiac arrest.

The body was dispatched to his home town on Monday after postmortem at Aizawl Civil hospital.

Meanwhile, Aizawl SP C Lalruaia said police are yet to receive the postmortem report.

Authority of Aizawl Civil hospital could not be contacted over the report.
