Assam eye specialist Parveez Ubed has been the reason of joy for many village dwellers of the state as he provides ultra affordable and quality eye treatments for them.
According to a Better India report, the Jorhat based doctor with an aim to provide affordable eye treatments, set up ERC Eye Care that operates vision centres in many parts of the state.

After completing his graduation in 2007, Ubed began working at a civil hospital in Jorhat where he found that many patients with various eye problems never care to go for necessary surgeries or treatments due to its high costs.
However, four years later, in 2011, Ubed started ERC Eye Care as a standalone clinic with regular community outreach camps.
The doctor and his 150 member team currently has four mobile vans, four hubs and a number of vision centres all across the state that has helped nearly two lakh people of the state to get cheap and quality eye care.

ERC Eye Care works on a hub and spoke model. Each of the district headquarters of the state has a hub hospital with all the necessary medical facilities. The hubs are connected to some spokes or satellite centres in the respective district . Each of the spokes operated by some eye specialists provides good eye treatment to the public.
The mobile vans of ERC Eye Care are used for travelling across the state conducting free eye camps every month in order to let people know about their eye conditions.
The establishments under ERC Eye Care charges only Rs 50 for a basic eye consultation.
The cost of eye surgeries ranges from Rs 1000 to Rs 20000 and is inclusive of travel, food and accommodation of the patients. Eye glasses range from Rs 250 onwards.
Apart from providing affordable and quality eye treatments to many people of the state, Ubed had also provided employment to a number of people by starting ERC Eye Care.
