The District Institute of Education Training (DIET), Dalgaon in Darrang on Tuesday organised a district level Yoga Olympiad at the Mangaldai Natya Niketan auditorium.
The district level Yoga Olympiad was organized to select contestants for participating in the state level Yoga Olympiad to be held on May 23 in Guwahati.

The contest – open for both boys and girls from Upper Primary to Secondary standard in four different categories – witnessed a total of 51 contestants.
Earlier the 51 contestants were selected from schools under all three education blocks of the Darrang district.
The best candidate from each of the four categories has been selected to represent the district at the state level Yoga Olympiad and followed by the national level.

All the winners were presented with awards and certificates while all other participants were offered certificates.
Earlier, the day-long contest was ceremonially inaugurated by Kalpana Deka, additional deputy commissioner of Darrang, in charge of education.
The programme was also attended by several prominent persons including the principal of DIET, Darrang, Madhab Sarma and veteran yoga activist and a retired college teacher Punya Sarma among others.
