An Arunachalee student, who returned to the state from Delhi on May 18, has tested positive for COVID19.
Health officials said the student, who was kept in institutional quarantine and his swab sample taken on May 22, tested positive for COVID19 on Sunday.

“The patient is totally asymptomatic and is being taken care by our health team. The student was staying in West Patel Nagar in Delhi and was preparing for the UPSC examinations,” officials said.
Officials said the student came to Arunachal on a bus which had 33 other persons onboard.
“The bus travelled through Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Assam before entering Arunachal. The state and district level contact tracing team has started to track all those who came with the student in the bus and interacted with him till now,” officials said.

This is the second case of COVID19 reported from the state as the previous patient, a 31-year-old man, was discharged from hospital in April after here was declared cured.
The man from Medo village had attended the Tablighi Jamaat congregation in Delhi’s Nizamuddin Markaz in March after which he tested positive for COVID19 on April 1.
With the new case, Arunachal Pradesh currently has one active COVID19 case.
