“According to experts, there has been an increased risk of mucormycosis disease among people who have recovered from Kovid-19, which has led to many deaths. In this disease, there is a risk of damage to many organs of the body including the brain. An alert for the disease has been issued in Mumbai and Ahmedabad,” said Gehlot.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, mucormycosis is caused by a group of molds called mucormycetes. These molds live throughout the environment.

Mucormycosis mainly affects people who have health problems or take medicines that lower the body’s ability to fight germs and sickness.

It most commonly affects the sinuses or the lungs after inhaling fungal spores from the air, or the skin after the fungus enters the skin through a cut, burn, or other types of skin injury.

However, it can occur in nearly any part of the body.

In Ahmedabad, the majority of patients, who have come to the civil hospital with mucormycosis, had diabetes and were recovering from Covid19.
