The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) donated Rs 1.52 lakh to the Assam Arogya Nidhi to combat the spread of coronavirus in Assam.

Addressing a press conference at Bodofa House Bagansali in Kokrajhar, Dipen Boro, president of ABSU informed about the donation.

He expressed gratitude and thanks to the Central Government and the State Government for the steps taken to prevent spread of coronavirus in the country.

Boro also called upon all to obey the total lockdown announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the safety and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The union leader urged the State Government to several government hospitals like Barpeta hospital and other hospitals to make quarantine centre for COVID-19 patients’ treatment.

The students’ union also urged the State Government to allow the union to distribute relief to the needy people.

Boro also said the union has not having direct link with any political party and that the union has been working for last fifty years in times of crisis.

He also said the union is facing hardship to serve to needy people by distributing essential commodities to poor families.
