Samples of a total of 680 people including that of 251 returnees from Karnataka have tested negative for COVID19 on Thursday.
This was confirmed on Thursday by Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb.
While sharing the information through his Twitter handle, chief minister Deb said all the people, who have been advised to remain under home quarantine, should follow the set norms.
He also warned that those, who violate the quarantine norms, will be sent to the jail with a term of maximum 6 months.
“Good news! Total 680 persons including 251 Karnataka returnees have undergone #COVID19 test today and all reports are negative,” chief minister Deb tweeted.
“Those who have been advised home quarantine are requested to follow the norms or else may undergo upto 6 months imprisonment,” he added.

Earlier, informing about the feelings of the returnees from Karnataka, the chief minister said, “The stranded people who returned from Karnataka to Tripura are happy now.”
On their arrival in Agartala, the returnees expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made by the Tripura government and also thanked chief minister Deb.
Chief minister deb said his government is “committed to help everyone”.
In view of the COVID19 pandemic, the chief minister said: “I also request all respected citizen to keep vigil and be alert. Together we shall fight this pandemic.”
The virus has infected so far 155 people.
However, most of the patients are jawans of Border Security Force (BSF) battalions and their family members
The first Shramik Special train, which left from Bengaluru with migrants and other passengers on Sunday, entered Tripura on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the NF Railway sources, the Shramik Special Train to Tripura began its journey from Bengaluru at 5 pm on Sunday.
