CRPF jawan from Dhemaji district in Assam, Mrityunjoy Chetia was martyred as he succumbed to injuries after a grenade attack by terrorists at Ganderbal in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to CRPF, Mrityunjoy Chetia was serving as a constable in 115 Battalion of the security force.
The 24-year-old CRPF jawan was born in Dhemaji on November 10, 1996.
He was a resident of Sisiborgaon in the district.
A total of three CRPF jawans were injured during the grenade attack at Ganderbal on Wednesday.
The terrorists lobbed grenades at a CRPF party at Tawheed Chowk in the Dudderhama area of Ganderbal.
All the injured CRPF jawans were rushed to the hospital, but Mrityunjoy Chetia succumbed to his injuries on Thursday.
The CRPF has deeply condoled the demise of the braveheart from Assam.
The CRPF in a tweet on Thursday said Mritunjoy Chetia has made the supreme sacrifice for the nation.
It said they stand with his family.
