Assam Manipur: 6 arrested for looting IRB weapons in Imphal

Guwahati: In an operation conducted by Assam Police‘s Special Task Force (STF) on Wednesday, a substantial amount of heroin and cash were seized, leading to the arrest of three suspected smugglers in Guwahati’s Lakhtokia area.

The operation took place in the Lakhtokia area of Guwahati, shortly after the recent bust of two female peddlers in the Tokobari locality by the STF.

Acting on a tip-off, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the STF directed a team to raid SS Path in Lakhtokia, falling under the jurisdiction of the Panbazar Police Station.

During the raid, which commenced at approximately 6 pm, authorities seized 42 containers containing heroin, amounting to around 59 grams. Additionally, Rs 260 in cash, a mobile phone, and two syringes were confiscated.

The operation also resulted in the apprehension of three individuals who were caught in the act of smuggling.

They were identified as Ashkar Ali from Dhubri, Sanjay Dey from Kamrup (metro), and Bikash Chetri from Tinsukia.

Further investigation to trace their connections has been initiated.
