Guwahati: Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) in Guwahati, Assam is under fire after a pregnant woman accused a doctor of physical assault.
The doctor was identified as Abhishek Mahajan, a Patient Care Technician (PCT) in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department.

Images of the alleged victim with bruises and facial injuries were shared widely on social media.
In response to the incident, GMCH Superintendent Abhijit Sarma has formed a four-member enquiry committee led by Dr BP Das.
The other members include Dr Kanakeswar Bhuyan, Dr Pankaj Adhicari, and Dr Pradip Kr Das.

The committee is tasked with investigating the allegations against the doctor.
As per an official notification, they are required to submit a report within 24 hours detailing their findings on the alleged assault of a patient admitted yesterday in the O&G department.
