Guwahati: At least 12 persons were detained by the Assam Police in a major crackdown on cybercrime across four locations in Guwahati and Morigaon districts early Wednesday morning.
Apart from the arrest of the 12 individuals, the police also made seizures of incriminating evidence.

A source informed that around 16 special police teams were deployed based on inputs.

The teams conducted the raids in Laharighat, Bhuragaon, Moirabari (all in Morigaon district), and Guwahati city.

The seized evidence includes numerous SIM cards, Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, and other materials believed to be linked to alleged cybercriminal activities.

This operation is reported to be a part of an ongoing investigation launched in 2023.
Since then, over 200 arrests related to cybercrime cases across the state have been made.
