Guwahati: Doctors at Peerless Hospital Guwahati in Assam on Thursday urged people to adopt practical health resolutions in the New Year to cut down medical emergencies and improve overall well-being.

Emphasising preventive healthcare, specialists advised citizens to undergo annual health check-ups, particularly to detect lifestyle-related diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and heart ailments at an early stage. They said regular monitoring of vital health indicators helps prevent serious complications later in life.

The doctors also highlighted the growing importance of mental health and called on people to pay attention to emotional well-being, manage stress and seek professional help when needed. They stressed that mental health deserves the same priority as physical health.

On womenโ€™s health, the hospital recommended routine screenings and timely medical consultations to address common but often neglected conditions, including anaemia and thyroid disorders.

Peerless Hospital Guwahati CEO Dr Gautam Kr Das said the New Year provides an opportunity for people to take greater responsibility for their health. He said simple measures such as periodic health check-ups, responsible driving and awareness about mental well-being can prevent many emergencies. He also underscored the importance of the โ€˜Golden Hourโ€™, stating that timely medical intervention and public cooperation during emergencies can save lives.

As part of its advisory, the hospital also focused on road safety and appealed to motorists to avoid drink-and-drive, wear seatbelts and helmets, and strictly follow traffic rules. Doctors reiterated that the first hour after a serious injury or medical emergency remains critical for saving lives.

The hospital further appealed to the public to cooperate during emergencies by giving way to ambulances and emergency vehicles, saying collective awareness plays a key role in effective emergency response.

Through the New Year advisory, Peerless Hospital Guwahati reaffirmed its commitment to promoting preventive healthcare, public safety and timely emergency care in the community.
