Guwahati: A man was killed after being run over by a truck on the outskirts of Guwahati, Assam on Thursday evening.
According to reports, the man who was on a scooter was attempting to make a U-turn near a divider on the highway near the Kapalkata area of Sonapur, Guwahati.

However, some locals stated that the man did not notice the truck coming from the other side and proceeded to the other side.

Both the scooter and truck failed to stop on time and had a collision resulting in the death of the scooter rider.

The deceased was identified as Robert Rongson, a resident of Sonapur.

A pillion rider (yet to be identified) was severely injured and is currently under medical attention.
While an investigation has been initiated, it has been alleged that the scooter took the turn without following safety instructions.
