Guwahati: A Government Railway Police (GRP) team apprehended two individuals with a significant amount of suspected cannabis from a railway station in Guwahati, Assam during a routine inspection on Friday evening.
Sources said that acting on a tip-off, an operation was initiated by the officials.

The team thoroughly checked Coach No H1 of Train No 14620 (Tripura Sundari Express) at Platform No 2 of Guwahati Railway Station at around 5:30 PM on Friday.

Two suspicious men were found during the operation and on checking them, the police team found nearly 90 kilograms (89.1 kg) of suspected marijuana.

On further investigation, the two men were identified as Yogesh Kumar (32) and Om Prakash (25), both residents of Narar village in Madhubani district, Bihar.

Both of them were arrested from the train and the consignment concealed in seven packets was seized.
The accused on being questioned told the police that they were travelling from Agartala, Tripura to Bihar.
The origin of the seized marijuana is being verified by the police and the accused are being investigated further.
