Manipur continues to witness different weather conditions since the past couple of days even after the southwest monsoon which advanced on Sunday, covering most parts of Northeast India, was found to be “weak over Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura”.
On Tuesday, Senapati district, which had witnessed widespread flood and mudslide in 2017, witnessed intense rainfall for about half an hour in the afternoon (around 5 pm) whereas other districts experienced warm temperature.

After the intense rain, Senapati town, 60 km north of Imphal, is yet to regain its normal power supply at the time of filing this report.
Reports from the hill town also claimed that the district faces deficit rainfall in this time.
“If the existing trend goes on and the rice plantation could not be completed within June, we will be facing less production of rice as in the previous year,” said a resident of Senapati, who frequently shares information on agriculture practices with the farmers.
On the other hand, Imphal East and Imphal West districts experienced maximum temperature of 35.23 and 35.09 degree Celsius respectively on Tuesday.
Among the districts, Noney experienced warmest temperature with 37.46 degree Celsius while Ukhrul recorded a maximum temperature of 25.72 degree Celsius on Tuesday.
Otherwise, Churachandpur district also recorded rainfall of about 9.6 mm on Tuesday morning.
According to India Meteorological Department, southwest monsoon is found to be weak over Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura.
The southwest monsoon covering most parts of Northeast India has entered the remaining parts of the northeast Bay of Bengal, some more parts of northwest Bay of Bengal and north Bengal and Sikkim as well.
“The rainfall activity was widespread over Arunachal Pradesh and Assam & Meghalaya. However, it was fairly-widespread over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura subdivision in the previous past 24 hours,” says IMD in a press release issued on Sunday.
“Southwest monsoon was normal over Arunachal Pradesh and Assam & Meghalaya,” it added.
