Imphal: As a part of the Van Mahotsav, 2024, known as the “Festival of Forests,” the Manipur Government has significantly planted 1,00,000 seedlings as of July 19, 2024, against the target to plant four lakh commercially viable saplings by September 2024 to enhance the green cover across the state.
Officials said that each year 420 sq. km annually are deforested in Manipur and if this goes on for 10 to 15 years there will be an imbalance of nature.
