A five day nature orientation camp was recently held at the Manas National Park by the Green Heart Nature Club, Kokrajhar.
The camp was a joint initiative of the Department of Forests, BTC and the Green Heart Nature Club, Kokrajhar.

The programme was inaugurated by the Director of Education, BTC RS Borgoyari. Inspector of Schools, Chirang district, Joypal Brahma; Divisional Forest Officer, Haltugaon Divison; Head Master, Simborgaon High School and various esteemed guests and dignitaries were also present at the event.
More than 67 students from classes V to X from the four districts of Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa and Udalguri participated in the nature camp.
Borgoyari, in his inaugural speech expressed his pleasure of seeing participation of large number of school students and youths in the workshop where they can learn about the various treasures of nature.

He also emphasized on the need to conduct more such unique workshops to enlighten the next generation of the various aspects of nature that has to be preserved and protected.
The Director also extended his full co-operation in organizing more of such events and promoting the idea of conservation among the youth.
Bablu Dey, the Director of Green Heart Nature Club, said that the organization is the only one in the entire Northeast to organize such nature orientation camps every year inspite of facing tremendous hardships.
He also extended his thanks to the authorities for helping them make the orientation programme a huge success.
Various activities such as bird-watching, nature walks, identification of plants and animals etc were conducted by experienced resource person during the orientation programme.
